内容简介:

Lu Xun is the greatest writer in modern China and his contribution to China’s literary moment was tremendous. Lu Xun has been discussed from different perspectives. Unfortunately, his idea of translation has not been properly and adequately approached. In this seminar, the speaker will treat translation as a kind of cultural memories, presenting how and why Lu Xun did his translation in a semi-feudal and semi-colonial context. The reception of Lu Xun’s translation in the West today will also be discussed. Given a specific cultural context, the speech will demonstrate that translation cannot be deemed merely as a verbal shift from one language to another, an art of verbal performance, but rather a means for the construction and formation of a nation’s modernity.
